I consider my practice to be philosophical and political. My work intimately explores identity through aspects of humanity which are often undocumented. By directly questioning and/or disrupting standard societal assumptions, I aim to discover the universality within specific experiences in order to build connection and stand against inequity.
Currently, I am exploring ideas of care within a feminist framework, specifically in terms of production and relationships. With my thinking and practice, I work to fight against the dichotomy between art and other modes of production (including care production) which generally privileges art as superior. If an artist is a rebellious innovator, a social disruptor, a problem creator, then I must fight against the conventions of what it means to be an artist and to make art.
