BFA Printmaking
The driving force behind my artwork is my infatuation with the human experience. Often I place focus on relationships with the surrounding world. As well as consumerism and its impact. I am fascinated by human relationships, whether intimate, financial, or with inanimate objects. I Frequently question how these relationships morph our perceptions, and our environments over time.
My work ranges from large paintings, to medium scaled prints featuring intricate detail. Utilizing traditional materials such as inks, graphite, and painting, I create an understanding, and unspoken language displayed by figures, colors and surrounding environments. Influenced by opposing movements such as german expressionism, and impressionism. Embracing a blend of exaggerated, and traditional mark making and gestures. vibrant colors within the artwork in contrast with a soft figure to elude the viewer into the emotions of what the ambiguous figure may be feeling in its surrounding setting. The work is intended to make the viewer allow themselves a moment of introspection, and give voice to the emotions often swept aside and ignored in our busy contemporary lifestyles. This creates a chance for the audience to challenge their personal assumptions, reactions, perceptions and perspectives.
I am often searching for new ideas to challenge my perceptions. My challenge is to see beyond distraction, and communicate with clarity, to evoke an audience to look deeper into themselves, and surrounding environments, and those we interact with. I am always calculating. which materials can further achieve my goal.
