MADDY REHKOP

Madelyn is an interdisciplinary artist whose work in this exhibition delves into the intersections of speculative biology, evolution, and experimental storytelling. Inspired by both scientific inquiry and creative intuition, their practice examines how life might emerge and adapt under unfamiliar conditions. Pushing the boundaries of what is possible within our natural understanding of life, and whatever comes beyond.

With a focus on subtle environmental narratives, their projects incorporate elements of shifting ecologies, cryptic adaptations, and nearly imperceptible transformations. While aliens face their most ancient predator they have yet to overcome, the activities provided at their booth explores what makes us human from a lens out of this world. With some convergent evolutions on the line. Their work invites viewers to reconsider the world around them. What is considered real or what qualifies as life, and where those sanctions can be blurred within their unique twist on make-believe.

For Madelyn’s work, they draw from speculative evolution and their unique style to craft a world where adaptation is not just survival, but an artistic expression in itself. And a further exploration and extension into ourselves. Even for as far as we move out into nature. Through detailed descriptions, mixed-media installations, and immersive narratives, they construct an environment where nature and imagination coexist in a delicate balance, evoking a sense of curiosity and wonder.

Their work has been exhibited in various academic and creative spaces, aiming to spark dialogue about the ever-evolving relationship between science and art. In this project, you are sure to find a creature that speaks to you.
