Dreamer of the Day: Dayzed
From playing with toys, being intrigued by video games, to experiencing the wonders of manga and anime, I have always grasped one feeling that I was fond of when doing these things. The feeling of being in another world. Growing up in Missouri helped me to observe the structures of everything around me in the environment because I’m fond of detail and patience. My love for drawing graphic novels has been pushed by making other viewers wonder how was this picture done, or why did this person think of putting this much effort into one scene. My style for graphic novels has been executed from being inspired by hard work and a lot of scenarios I experienced in my wild unexplainable dreams. In the process of drawing over my entire life, I dreamed of creating my own series and having other people make content based on my graphic novel The Topia that I have been working on since I was a child. I taught myself animation and currently releasing episodes. Therefore, having this mindset sparked other ideas. Painting, still life, graphic art, making movies, and even designing clothes intrigued me along my college experience. I’m attending Webster as a BA Art student because there’s so many art styles that caught my interest. Each medium had its own style and concept which made it unique. I then thought that when mixing all of these together, created another dimension that I view as a mental escape. Then came along my idea for the Dayzed world. The Dayzed universe goes into depth about thoughts of vibes and feelings that are addressed by the subconscious mind. This ranges from odd sounds, illusionary transfers, and emotions that are addressed in a dreamlike way. Sometimes we really cant define the line between reality and fantasy because we all have a different perception of it. With my illustrations, graphic art, and other forms being combined, it opens a door to another state of mind. Perspective is key and the way we see the world is up to ourselves. The fun comes in when the viewer interprets my message in the art piece in their own way. Now since you know now what you have been told, the journey begin!
