BA Studio Art

My goal is the preservation of the past through simple yet unique, interesting, and engaging art. I collect and restore old Polaroid instant cameras from the last fifty years and give them new life and purpose by immediately putting them to work chronicling the iconic remains of a legendary part of American history. Route 66, a lasting testament to peoples heritage of adventure, travel, and seeking a better life. I use these relics of a neglected medium to immortalize beautiful ruins of bold mid-century American Googie Design as well as give tribute to those along the historic road who were able to triumph over the impossible and thrive in modern society where such things can be so easily forgotten. I've chosen to approach my task so that I may engage with my audience in unique ways with unique techniques in hopes of leaving a lasting impression. Each Polaroid is distinctly unique and serves as a window of curiosity into the past meant to enthrall the viewer with a sense of nostalgic wonder. I am planting the seed of adventure so others may be inspired to follow in my foot steps and experience history.
