BFA Painting

I consider my studio practice to be based in documentation and introspection. By taking in the world around me and critically analyzing it, I am able to explore an undercurrent of topics that are usually overlooked or forgotten.

For the past few years, I have been greatly interested in the subject and visuals of natural disasters and urban blight, and how those environments or events affect the human psyche. I investigate the reasons that neighborhoods and families fall into permanent disrepair, and draw attention to such findings through my work. By doing this, I connect socio economics to architecture, architecture to people, and people to each other. Things fall apart, but they can be built back up again. I carry this sentiment everywhere I go, and I hope to someday extend it beyond the confinements of a work of art into the realm of global empathy.
