I find myself drawn to the bare essentials of art making: process and medium. I enjoy taking multiple mediums and using them in a variety of ways, both traditional and nontraditional and have never found myself interested in being tied down to single medium for expression. I am curious about how I can transform various mediums to tell different stories, and how a chosen medium directly influences the stories I wish to tell. I often use layers to express this, sometimes through collage, by exploring mixed media, or simply by layering the same medium on top of itself.

I see my art as a form a therapy, a journal, and a way for me to speak when the words are not there. The process of creating allows me to work through the ideas, questions, struggles, and thoughts that plague my mind. Much of my work is personal, usually surrounding themes of mental illness, trauma, identity, and gender. These overwhelming subjects begin to take a visual shape in my hands, one that often starts out just as confusing as the original thought until I gently care for it, nurture it, and allow it to become the work of art it should be in that moment. My body of work is a living, breathing, tangible thing and I see my art as a reflection of my growth, and a visual representation of what’s ever changing about me. It is a collection, an anthology, and a piece of my personal history.
