BA Studio Art

As an artist I strive to create the place between dreams and reality. There is always a struggle within my creation process, much like the struggle of trying to fall back into a dream. By wrestling with various materials and imagery I focus on a process of destruction, reassembly and new creation. These artworks when finished have the essence of a candid photograph and capture a moment in time between a past and a present. Not all the answers maybe be present to the viewer in turn causing them to create their own narrative within my art. I use spiritual symbolism found in nature and mix it with human expression in order to create a surreal like atmosphere. Color is a personal friend of mine and by studying color theory I set the mood of these narratives. Color can also be used as a deception, by twisting darker images into a vividly illustrated work. My goal is to create a sort of paradox for the viewer that holds them in my creation. I want my artwork to raise the viewer to question their reality, question their own dreams and views regarding humanity and nature. I hope when one turns away my artwork stays with them, such as a dream stays with one when they awake.
