BFA Printmaking
With my work, I strive to enlighten, encourage, and intrigue others through the context of my imagery. I wish for people to take a new perspective on the things in life that seem so small and insignificant, to understand the importance of the connectivity of all things, and the importance of the understanding of self and of others. Through the use of multiple mediums, I challenge myself and my viewers, to look at all things from a different frame of mind. I do this in hopes to inspire a reaction of realization and/or change.
One of the things that I love about printmaking is the amount of playing that comes with this creative process. You can rework and readjust your perspective as many times as you like and have the imagery read entirely differently as a similar print. How I would consider my work unique is by the use of this same playfulness found in the creative process in printmaking. Through the use of this playfulness, I add an illustrative naiveté to morph the imagery. I do this to spark the interest of the viewer and to bring a humorous tone to mask the severity of its context.
